HGCA Arable Planting Survey Results 2009 for Farm Land in UK and Eastern Region
of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambs.
Sept 2009 Precision Farming Articles - Willington Crop Services
Total crop areas planted on farm land in 2009 and how
areas of farm crops changed from 2008 planted areas.
UK planted areas for combinable crops are shown below
with total UK area of cereals down 2% due to a drop in
wheat acreage but increase in spring barley acreage.
Plus a 7% drop in oil seed rape acreage on farms
throughout UK.
But for Eastern Region of UK, the picture was
slightly different as below. Cereal acreage was down the
same 2% as for the whole UK but less reduction in wheat
acres and lesser increase in barley. However in the
Eastern Region oil seed rape was increased in area
compared to a reduction for UK as a whole, with 10% more
acres drilled.
